Don’t Let The Turkeys Get You Down

Have you ever heard the story of the baby eagle that fell from it’s nest only to land in a family of turkeys?

He grew up thinking he was a turkey.

He ate with the turkeys. He slept with the turkeys. He even acted like a turkey.

But he knew in his heart that he wasn’t a turkey. And one day he looked up to see an eagle soaring majestically in the afternoon sky.

At that moment he knew that he was an eagle.

When it comes to websites that want to sell you something, there are turkeys and there are eagles. [Read more...]

Happy Groundhog Day

Studies show that it costs from four to TEN TIMES MORE to create a new client than it does to keep an existing client.  Yet one look at most marketing plans quickly reveals that companies spend most of their time, money and effort to make new customers!

The key to long term profits is in the repeat, or “backend”sales we make to existing clients. No money need be spent to find, capture and convince these people because they already like and trust us!

And when people like and trust you the odds of them buying on your recommendation are much higher than if they don’t know you.

Simple really. We buy from those we trust.

But how do we cause clients to buy from us again and again without falling into the “new launch of the week” syndrome where we are always pitching for them to buy? How can we use the Internet to build relationship and deepen trust?

What Does Successful Marketing Look Like?

One of the problems with working on the Internet is that most of us do it in isolation.

Instead of the usual give-and-take of office conversation, we have email, a decidedly one-sided way to communicate. Or forums, where the opinions can be quite loud but not necessarily based on actual experience.

Instead of the usual boss judging our progress and letting us know how we are performing (often in no uncertain terms) we are on our own – accountable only to ourselves. Which is good and bad at the same time.

No boss looking over your shoulder is a good thing. Having no one to ask questions of when you need help is not. I think this is one reason why my consulting offer at the Directory of Ezines has been so popular.

While working on your own in an Internet business can be incredibly rewarding, it can be lonely and frustrating as well.

One of the big frustrations is NOT knowing what success looks like. [Read more...]

Will 2012 Boom or Bust?

As we enter a new year we are almost all thinking the same thing; will we see the economy turn around in 2012 or will we suffer through yet another year of turmoil?

More to the point, we are all asking this question — will 2012 be a boom year or a bust for me?

People are hurting today, and being hurt. You might be one of them.

Today, perhaps more than ever before, people need to make money online. And yet, ironically, there are more liars and thieves online today than ever before. Not so ironic really when you consider that con men and charlatans have always preyed on those most in need.

The question today is this – is there something you can do to make 2012 a boom year and not a bust year for you and your family? I believe there is, and have devoted both time and resources to changing my own business plan to help you get that done. [Read more...]

Three Keys To Succeeding This Year

When it comes to succeeding online – whether that means starting your own online business, earning money as an affiliate, or something more, there is a world of confusion about what really works.

  • Create a content-rich site, some say. But that’s easier said than done.
  • Publish an ezine, say others. But what would you have to say?
  • Become a super affiliate we often hear. Again… HOW?

In the years I’ve been online I have been blessed to be able to learn what I needed to know to succeed. Sometimes I learned from others examples. Sometimes I learned from watching others succeed.

And sometimes I learned from painful (and costly) trial and error. Based on all of that, I’d like to share with you three keys that I believe can help you succeed this year, and beyond.

Internet Marketing: Are You Pushing or Pulling?

Marketing StrategyOnline marketing can be confusing to say the least!

Nothing we do in our real lives prepares us to work online, and terms like “autoresponder” or “solo ad” or “CPM”  are foreign at best.

To add to the confusion and information overload there are countless “gurus” handing out conflicting advice. It’s enough to make your head spin!

Let me help simplify things a bit.

There are really only two methods of marketing online. [Read more...]

Six Ways To Profit From Resale Rights Packages

Have you seen these resale rights packages that are floating around the Internet?

You know the pitch. It usually goes like this …

Get 792 eBooks, 312 videos, 843 audio files, 19 pieces of software and access to five powerful membership sites for only ten bucks!!

Usually, there are literally thousands of “special reports” thrown in the deal as well.

Often, it sounds so good we can’t pass it up. So, we pull out the Visa and spring for the $17 or $27 or $47.

Sounds great, until you discover that it’s practically a full time job to download and organize the stuff, much less actually read it! Then you have to edit the HTML page (who has time for that!) and upload it all to your web server using FTP … ARG!

So it just sits there, gathering digital dust on your hard drive. Another $47 bucks down the tubes. [Read more...]

One Good Idea Can Change Everything!

Have you ever felt like you just cannot find that one thing that will help you achieve your goals? Felt like everything you have tried should have worked but, for some unexplainable reason, it didn’t work for you?

I know exactly how that feels and it is, candidly, miserable.

When a person feels like they have “missed it” they remain in a constant state of confusion. Every selling email from every Internet marketing guru creates the feeling that what they are selling might be the thing you have been missing and if you don’t buy what they are offering you will miss out and never make it online.

Every sales letter you read on websites becomes a possible lifeboat – the one thing that might be your last chance to make it online and enjoy the lifestyle everyone seems to enjoy … except you.

There is a name for this condition. That name is “information overload”.

Those feelings that you have “missed it” or that the next thing you buy will do the trick are what drive people to buy things they don’t need or can’t use, hoping against hope that this time the “system” will work and they will be set free.

If you feel that way today I want you to know there is good news. Very good news indeed.

I am here to tell you that you have not “missed it”. Your chance at succeeding online has not passed you by.

YOU STILL HAVE TIME! IN FACT, YOUR BEST DAYS ARE STILL IN FRONT OF YOU!

The sure cure for information overload – the only cure really is [Read more...]

Seven Keys To Lasting Success

sevenI think we have all asked the same question at one time or another.

That question is …

“What does it really take to succeed online?”

If we listen to the emails and websites we read, we hear many strong opinions.

“Create your own product” they say.

“Do joint ventures” says another.

“Pay per click advertising is all you need” says yet another voice.

And they always make it sound so much easier than it really is, while loudly proclaiming that their way is the only way. And yet we know that cannot be true.

So … what DOES it take to succeed online? [Read more...]
