Five Free Ways To Sell More

I want to share with you five free ways to sell more beginning today.

They say that traffic is the lifeblood of all online businesses. Fair enough – without visitors, we make no sales.

First things first, it’s important to remember that there really are only two ways to drive traffic: free methods and paid methods.

When it comes to free ways to sell more, I want to share five things you can do starting today.

Before we begin, let me say that free methods are slower than paid methods.

When you buy an ad – whether that ad be a solo, a Facebook spot or any other – you can begin seeing results immediately, but those results are going to be very short lived.

The defining factor is that you will continue seeing results as long as you continue paying for the ad.

None of us can pay indefinitely, so it’s important to leverage some free methods as well.

Free methods work more slowly, but they can work more reliably too, because you can continue using them again and again.

I believe that the methods I’m going to share with you today can make a lasting difference for your business, starting right now .

The first thing is that you can put links on your Facebook page today.

If you don’t have a Facebook page, you can easily get one and begin connecting with people immediately.

I’m not talking about pushing products on all of your family and friends.

What I am talking about is putting links on your Facebook page where people who are interested anyway can click that link and check out your product.

The products that you regularly use and like are perfect for this.

Let me give you an example. Let’s say that you use Aweber as your autoresponder. A lot of people do. Aweber is a wonderful service and Tom Kulzer is a great guy.

If you like Aweber and you use them, do you have an Aweber affiliate link on your Facebook page?

Most people don’t.

If you simply put a banner ad up on your Facebook page or a link, “Interested in email marketing? Click here,” you will get more clicks than you might expect over time.

If you have a Twitter account, you can do the same thing with Twitter.

You can just tweet that out from time to time.

Let time and repetition be your ally.

The second free way to sell more things is to improve your email signature line. 

I’m not talking about emails that go back and forth between you and your brothers and sisters, or your best friends.

This method is specifically for business emails.

We all use business email every single day.

When sending a business email it’s a great idea to have a signature that says, “My top recommendation, click here.”

Just something that teases the person into the click. Less is more here so use curiosity to your advantage.

So many people overlook this and it’s a very powerful way to get clicks over time.

On each of these tactics you want to use an ad tracker to see just how many clicks you are getting.

Remember that because it’s not a paid method you can’t expect a flood of clicks, unless you are really active with email or you have a super active Facebook page.

That said, these are overlooked areas that could be making you a significant profit over time.

It’s like walking past a $100 bill. You’d stop and pick up a $100 bill, wouldn’t you?

If you do these things, over time they can be very helpful.

The third, and most important, thing is to post to your blog.

This is the best, most important, free thing you can do, frankly.

If you don’t try any of the other ideas but you just post something to your blog every day, you will do well because time will become your ally.

It gives the search engines something to recognize you by, it gives the visitors to your site something to read, and it positions you as a helpful, reliable resource.

It’s also a useful way to clarify your own thinking about what you want to do and what you want to promote.

Believe it or not, one of the best things you can do for your business is post something to your blog every day.

The post could be anything –

  • An encouraging email you received.
  • A joke you like.
  • A motivational quote.
  • A new product that you have tried out.
  • Your opinion about a movie.

Just by disciplining yourself to get it out of your head and onto your blog every day, you will be amazed over time at how much this simple step can grow your business.

I know that it sometimes feels like no one is reading the things we write. I feel that too. Posting to your blog can be isolating.

But believe me, people are out there needing help and if you provide it, they will read.

The next thing you can do is comment on other blogs.

I want to be 100% clear that I’m not talking about some automated thing where you put a comment into a piece of software and it goes out to 50,000 blogs or any other trick like that.

I’m talking about personally going to the blogs that you follow and making meaningful comments on articles that you’ve read and really like.

I get thousands of comments each week that say, “Great article, dude. I really like that. How did you design such a beautiful blog?” or “Massive add – how do you get smart like”.

This is pure spam and they get seen as such and eliminated very quickly.

I also get hundreds of meaningful comments from real people that I like to communicate with and truly appreciate.

You will likely have the same experience, but if you use a little plugin called Akismet it will filter out the spam and help you keep in contact with the readers who actually care about your content.

Keep in mind that the blogs where you’re commenting are going to use that type of plugin, too.

So don’t try to be a salesman here.

Just leave a legitimate comment, an honest and open comment about what you liked about this article, how it helped you, and then include a link to your site.

Here’s an insider tip: link back to a specific page on your site, not just the homepage.

By linking back to a specific page, and not the home page of your blog, you will increase the SEO value of that page with a meaningful and relevant backlink.

Use the URL (permalink) of the page that best matches the post on which you are commenting.

This is SEO gold when done well.

The last thing I would say, the fifth way to sell more is by helping people more. 

Zig Ziglar said a long time ago that you can get everything in life that you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.

That has remained consistently true ever since he coined that phrase back in 1974. It will always remain true in my view.

It really is true — if you help other people they will reciprocate and they will help you in return.

Find a way to help one person today. If you can do that, you will have done a good thing and also have put reciprocity into play.
