My Favorite Four Letter Word

My Favorite Four Letter Word By Charlie Page

I have a confession to make … I LOVE words. I love to use them. Love to learn new ones.

I especially love to find just the right combination of words that convey exactly what I mean and cause people to respond in ways that are profitable for everyone.

And I love using four letter words too! Many of you know that I’m a Christian, which begs the question – how can you love four letter words?

It’s not THAT kind of word I’m talking about!  🙂

I love four letter words because some of the most powerful words in the English language are four letter words! Now I don’t pretend to be a scholar. Far from it; I never even went to college! But when it comes to using words to communicate and persuade I’ve been around the block a time or two. Makes me glad I lived this long!

After over 35 years of choosing my words very carefully I have made a list of my favorite four letter words. I share that list below.

Please feel free to leave a comment and share with me your favorite four letter word. And please add the “why” – why is your four letter word your favorite? Please keep all comments PG rated. This is a family friendly blog!  🙂

My favorite four letter word is …

Why help? Because I have discovered over the years that I love (another favorite) to help people. I shut down my consulting practice so I could give DOE members my time on the phone. The result? More members than ever helped! I like that.

I created this blog to house all the articles I’ve written and videos I have made so there would be one place you could go and quickly get some helpful information free. While we are not finished yet, it’s coming along and people are getting help. I like that too.

Another favorite? Call me a softy but it’s love. Why? Because the love of a good woman changed my life when I was but 19 years old and uplifts me every day. 40 years later and it’s like day 1. Only love can do that. I know the author of love by the way, and He makes my days long, profitable and worth living. Hope you know Him too.

Here’s my list. I can’t list them all because it would take so long to read them all. So I’m going to list one per letter and give you my A – Z of four letter words.

ABLE – I believe most people are capable of so much but they don’t see themselves as ABLE to get things done. My advice; stop looking at limitations – you are able to get the job done.

BUZZ – I am unashamedly in the business of promoting my products and helping members promote theirs. That takes buzz, and I love to generate buzz for members!

CORE – I believe anyone can succeed in business if they learn and master a core set of skills. Copywriting, email marketing, advertising – learn these and you will never go hungry again.

DUTY – I’m an old fashioned guy who believes we all have a duty to perform to our fellow man. That duty? Love and help! (How square is that?)

EDGE – As an online marketer I am always looking for an edge. When you find that edge big things begin to happen quickly.

FELT – Selling is about emotion. I often ask customers how they felt when something specific happened. I get weird looks, but I learn.

GLAD – The best advice I’ve read in a long time is to “be glad continually”. There is so much to be happy about.

HEAR – When others speak we sometimes listen but do we really hear? Hearing others is a beautiful thing.

ICON – There are icons we can learn from. Seth Godin, Bob Proctor, Zig Ziglar … thank you!

JOIN – I love joining things that are real and bring value to others. What a rush when things are new and possibilities endless.

KNOW – Knowing things matters. Never never stop learning.

LIST – I love lists. Love making them. Love checking them off. Love using them to get things done.

MUSE – Everyone needs inspiration. Find yours and stay connected.

NERD – Love ’em or hate ’em, your business ultimately works because of a nerd. Plus, it’s fun to say.

ONCE – Weird choice? Here’s why I love “once”. If I can do something successfully once I can do it again and again. This is the basis of all success in business.

PRAY – Couldn’t make it through a day without this one!

QUIZ – Want to know what customers really want? Quiz them.

ROUX – Hey, I’m from Louisiana!

SELL – Love to sell. Love to sell things for members and watch as they earn their first money online. That’s fun!

TEAM – When you find the right team anything is possible!

UNDO – I love it when someone can undo their failure and turn it into success. Damage can be undone. New beginnings are possible!

VERB – The most important part of copywriting? Use MORE verbs!

WANT – The most important part of selling? Find out what people want, not what they need.

X – I will happily admit that I don’t have one for X. Do you?

YEAR – When I was 25 they seemed so long. Now they seem much shorter. Decide to make this year YOUR year!

ZINE – Ezines changed my life and bring me thousands of visitors a day. For me it’s the ONLY “Z” word that matters!  🙂

So what’s your favorite four letter word?

Hi Charlie, thanks once again. I think on X you could put X perience!I believe most of the great stuff you are teaching us comes from the eXperience that you’ve had on line.
My favourate four word is PAUL- which it also means humble. The quality that you also posses and demonstrate. You will notice that Love and humble operates together.
If I may add two more words that would be GOOD+NEWS(gospel) you’ve been always giving us GOOD NEWS thats informative and practical. We thank you for that Charlie.

For that troublesome X, how ’bout Xcel? Hey, we’re wordsmiths here…a little peotic license is in order, right? And I’d say put “zest” and “zeal” in there with “Zine”, Charlie. You certainly have a zest for zines, you know!

What an awesome responsibility and fun job to use words to stir others to positive action. Keep those cards and letters coming, Charlie. We love you and appreciate you for them.

    Look Charlie,

My suggested four letter word is “LOOK”. All endives for all creatures begin by first “looking” at the problem, task, and possibilities. Without “look” there is no focus for guidance towards completion.

    Hi Charlie,
Excellent post……. I have many 4 letter words that I like to use, yet there is 2 that are very similar and I use the most. I believe that these 2 words are used the most in the English language and is used (thought and/or verbal) at least once per day and understood in a lot of other languages.
Live – depending on the context, gives a powerful message/statement and carries a lot of emotion.
Life – sums up peoples experiences very quickly and sets the stage and context of the story. Be it of a character or the person themselves.
I also like a 3 letter word, that if you see it as an acronym, then it delivers an extremely powerful message.
    ALL – Awareness Loves Life
Thank you for your time and awesome info.

    Hi Charlie,
    My favourite word is HOPE.
If you have hope you have a chance at anything you can imagine.
Work hard at it and leave the rest in the hands of God.

Hey charlie, that was grand! I have to read this blog twice.
I think nobody can escape using 4 letter words!
Yeah some are atrocious and ugly.
But as Christians try to avoid them.
    Jesus was another word lover.
Nobody had used better than Him and his father
    this 4 letter word: LOVE!

Congrats Charlie! Some many had responded!
Love to read also the comments!
The blog is indeed coming along well.
So many tidbits on how to do internet marketing.
Hey “softie!” I like the paragraph where you talk
about you and your wife. That is lovely!
Please show a picture with her and your daughters.
By the way… do you write poetry?
So much poetry in the Bible is display!
    God bless!

Liked this article Mr. Page and another word that could be add is
“Able”. This is because being able to do something is a gift that should be cherished.

Hello Charlie Page, I have been a fulltime DOE member a couple of months and I consider finding you and DOE on the vast World Wide Web a GOD thing. After floundering around on the Internet for over two years and being sucked-in and buying my share of “snake oil” I was beginning to loose faith. I felt like Little Richard “Slippin’ and a Sliddin” all over the place and not getting anywhere.

Early on, I detected that you was a Christian; what a rare commodity on the Internet. You are a breath of fresh air. I haven’t talked with you yet but hope to soon. Your articles and videos have begun to get me focused and on a GOAL (One of my favorite four letter words) seeking mission. I have begun to unsubscribe from the dozens of emails, etc. that I receive each day that steals valuable time. I have set a new ninety-day GOAL. I am focusing on your advice to work toward this short-range goal.

Also, I have recently discovered Jeff Mulligan, owner of CBmall. His interview with you was very enlightening. With yours and Jeff’s direction I will be focusing on affiliate marketing, article marketing and Ezine marketing to begin building an Internet business. HOPE is more alive than ever.

Some of my favorite four letter words are: GOAL, HOPE, LOVE, MUST (must do), NEED (There is so much need in the world. We need to become successful so we can HELP the needy.), PRAY (I agree with you without prayer and listening we are prone to go astray.), WORK – I love to work and love to make things work successfully. QUIT – As in never, never, never quit! ROSE – We must stop and smell the roses. SOLD – Nothing happens until something is SOLD. TEAM – I have finally chosen some good team members Charlie Page, Jeff Mulligan and GOD. With God all things are possible…only believe.
BELIEVE is not a four letter word but it is one of my most favorite words….

I hope to be talking with you soon and get some one on one direction.

    God bless us all…

Great article on four letter words. I have never taken time to ponder on the meaning of many four letter words. My favourates are LOVE, PRAY, PLAN, PLAY AND STAY. I like the uncommon word ‘stay’ because history shows us that achievers were able to achieve their dream because they STAYED in the game. The staying power will help you not to throw in the towel….finish what you have started.

God bless you indeed , you have lots of wisdom.

    Great article!!!

So many choices, it was hard to choose just one.

After much contemplation, my choice is: GOOD

All things can be accomplished when we choose to do/be GOOD to one other.

    God bless!!!

Hi Charlie – my four letter word is COME. I am always saying to my children “COME on – we must do this or that”, but it speaks mostly of Jesus’ open invitation to all – COME – he accepts everyone no matter what their, socio-economic background, class, gender etc. He places none of the criteria we place on accepting people. He just says “come”. I love that about Jesus and about the God of the Bible who came up with such a wonderful plan of salvation!
